The focus of this year's marriage seminar is the topic of communication. Our God is a God of words. He never wastes them. Neither should we. Marriage rides or falls on the basis of godly communication between husband and wife. There is, perhaps, no greater state of sorrow on the planet to be in close proximity to someone you love and yet feel a thousand miles apart due to poor communication. There is also no greater joy and delight when godliness, dignity, and respect are held in high honor in the use of our words. Hardship and challenging seasons seem lighter and easier to bear when husband and wife work together in honoring Christ with their speech and communication. Power lies in the tongue for life or for death. How we speak with and to our spouse matters to God because he is a speaking God.
